Venetian Gem
My brother David’s holiday rental apartment in Venice is beautiful, elegant, cosy, and very comfortable. Completely renovated in June 2007 it is fully equipped, superbly located and reasonably priced. For a truly memorable weekend break or full week’s stay, you couldn’t find a more gorgeous spot in the heart of this unique city. Dates are completely flexible, which is unusual and very convenient. It’s new to the market, but bookings are accelerating and visitors always seem to want to return. It is a south-facing 100 sq/mtrs canalside apartment on the Dorsoduro, which is one of the quietest and most sought-after areas of Venice. The apartment lies 2 minutes from the delightful Zattere and 1 minute from charming Campo Santa Margherita. It is close to all the major sights, but away from the main tourist traps, making a stay here restful even in the busiest months. The apartment sleeps up to 8 people, rooms are bright and spacious and most have moulded plaster ceilings with old Murano chandeliers; floors are of travertine limestone, carrara marble or ceramic sandstone. 2 of the 3 bedrooms look out over the canal and the living room has a very large comfortable sofabed. The apartment has a separate well-equipped kitchen. Other features/facilities include Internet access, flat-screen TV, DVD player and stereo, film library and a comprehensive selection of Venetian-themed books. The apartment is beautifully furnished throughout with a mixture of contemporary and antique styles, including a magnificent Henri II carved walnut bed.
